Need info. Studs for tonnue Cover or Soft Top

Hello All,

I would like to know what is the best way to install the studs in the body for the tonnue cover or Soft top.

Everytime I drill into the body I get a little nervous. I would like a second opinion on this before I screw something up.

Drill the hole with an 1/8" bit then find a screw that matches the thread on the stud, tap the hole by running the screw in and out a few times then it should screw on easy,it helps if you use a small amount of lubricant on the stud. If it starts to get tight stop and retap the hole. The studs we use now are stainless instead of brass, the brass was a little too soft. Good luck.
