i am having trouble finding past posts that show the parking brake install. i don't see how the first caliper will move since the cable connection slides freely. What is the purpose of the brass clip that the bolts run through on the calipers?
I have been off the computer for a while now, see if any one can top this two month series of events. 1. sb 100 cert assigned to someone else after many calls finally fixed that 2. the the fuel pump eccentric worked its way loose, towed home twice before able to diagnois. 3. trans leaked, had to be pulled and resealed at the top plate. 4. left rear rotor covered in grease but can't find a leak. carb needs rejetting, way too lean! motor ran so bad it sounded like an old jalopy, would have sold the car for 50 bucks that week! I got over that and now am waiting for my SLOW painter to paint it hopefully by end of July

Scott,

The E-brake calipers set up is like a good bicycle brake set up.
When you pull the brake lever, the cable housing attached to the right caliper pushes it toward the middle, and the cable is pulling the other toward the middle. Squeezing the caliper levers toward each other. Because the cable moves (not much) it needs a little slack in it before attaching it to the frame with a clamp.
Follow the thread Clay posted. We used it to install his E-brake and
I just installed my cable on my chassie. I posted a picture under Alt. wiring. Good place for the E-brake picture:D

Do you mean this one?

It looks like it keeps the E-brake caliper from rattling. Because it is held on buy just those two bolts. Just a guess.
I am assuming your ebrake Calipers are not mounted yet.

Scott,

Sorry to here of your misfortune with the series of events you described, and I'm happy to hear you got past it. However, if you ever have the urge to bail out..... I've got $50 and am only a few hours away :D

Good luck - I hope it all comes together for you.

that helps, i also see how where to mount the bracket at the handle end. no i have not mounted the calipers yet, i sent the real brake calipers back to unique in attempt to find source of leak causing the greasy buildup on the rotor definitely not from the diff
