Stewart Warner Speedometer Cable

I was in the process of pulling off the dash... some of the fabric on my dash needs to be reglued.I disconnected the connection from the back of the speedometer and for the life of me couldn't pull out the cable. Is there some special technique required or am I not pulling the cable hard enough?

Bob, first time I've heard of this. Mine just about falls out by itself after un-screwing the thing. If a slight tug doesn't get it, you may want to undo the tranny end of the cable. This should allow you to pull the outer cable back enough to get a better look into the end of the speedo to see what's binding the inner cable.
