today was the first time i've actually "hammered" my car. it has 1300 miles, and no known problems (ok, the dip stick is held in with bubble gum, but it works). so finally i decided it was time.

still didn't punch it in first gear, but went to 5500 rpm WOT in second and third. without being obscene, i'm not sure that i can describe it. but, you guys already have done this, and know what i experienced.

i've told this story before, but i want to repeat myself. when i college, i had an Olds F85 with the 442 engine option. it beat everything on campus for three years. it was the fastest on campus. I came home for a party and local ford dealer's son showed up in a street cobra. i think it had the 260 CI. i begged a ride. Sunday i went back to school knowing my car wasn't fast. that 40 year old experience was duplicated today with my car.

i also know that this little car is a handful. i hope i never get "comfortable" with it. it deserves lots of respect and care, or it might get loose and bite.

what a car!

Had a similar experience in 1966 when I had a ’63 split window 327 ‘vette. For my money, there is nothing on the planet like these cars :D:D:D:D[:P][:P][:P]

Doug,

Congrats! Be careful[:O]

One of the locals is building a Factory 5 and asked me to stop by sometime so he could compare the cars and look at some of the finished areas on the car and take some pictures. I must tell you I have never seen a Factory 5 kit in "raw" form before. The word "raw" is about all I can say. This car is not a kit it is a project. I am so glad I went the route I did.

The funny part of this, also the part that goes with your thread, is when he made the comment that I should have chosen a small block because the big blocks rev so much slower and are so heavy. I asked him if he would like to go for a ride and he said "sure". I think the words he used were "you must be $#@&ing me, what the %$#@ is in this thing" I calmly answered "a boat anchor" and smiled like this[^]

Have fun!!!

Brent, LOL........I know, we have a number of those guys around here. The way you can confirm how big a project the FFR is to make it nice, the most popular FFR color now is gelcoat grey.

Yeah, and I've also seen Uniques mentioned a lot more by the CC "big dogs" lately. And, I flamed first, but it was for a reason;).
